PWFAA was founded on april 6 2005 by Rosienid Pere, an artist living in San German, Puerto Rico. By using a website at msn groups as a means of comunication, female artists were invited to become members of the group. The first three members who accepted the invitation were Estela Robles Galiano, an Artist from Aguadilla, Alicia Sotomayor, an Artist from Aguadilla, also and Claribel Santiago a Puerto Rican Artist and Graphic Designer living in Florida.
The Association is based on the following principles:
- It is a non-profit organization
- Members of PWFAA should be professional active fine arts artists
- Members should have at least a Bachelor Degree
- Only female artists are accepted
- Membership is open to women of Puerto Rican descent currently living in Puerto Rico or abroad, or women who have lived in Puerto Rico for many years.
- Membership are by invitation and should be approved by the Board of
Directors
The purposes of the Association are: To organize group exhibits throughout Puerto Rico,United States and other countries, to exchange art information, to be aware of new techniques and contemporary art tendencies, to publish individual and group exhibits and to publish artworks from members at the PWFAA website. |
